If you’ve visited the CASS website recently, you may have noticed things look a little different.
We’ve launched our new website, and while we’re really pleased with how it looks, this project was never simply about giving the old site a facelift. The bigger reason for changing it was that CASS has changed.
We’ve grown as a business, our team has grown, the services we provide have developed and the way we support our clients has evolved considerably. The old website told people what we did, but it didn’t really tell them enough about why we do it, how we work or the difference we want to make to the businesses we support.
The new website does.
Accounting should solve problems, not just produce numbers
Bookkeeping, payroll, VAT, year-end accounts and tax are important. They need to be accurate, completed properly and dealt with on time.
But we’ve never believed that should be where the relationship between a business and its accountant ends.
A set of accounts can tell you what happened last year. Good financial information should help you understand what is happening in your business today and give you the confidence to decide what you do next.
That thinking has shaped both CASS and our new website.
Instead of simply presenting a long list of accounting services, we’ve tried to make it much easier to find the support you actually need.
Maybe your bookkeeping is taking too much of your time. Perhaps payroll has become another monthly headache. You might have Xero but know you’re not getting enough from it. Your business could be growing, but you’re struggling to understand whether that growth is actually improving profitability and cash flow.
Or perhaps everything appears to be going well, but you want better information before making the next big decision.
Those are the conversations we have with business owners every day.
What does “Giving You More Than Numbers” actually mean?
We’ve used Giving You More Than Numbers for some time, but the new website puts it much more firmly at the heart of CASS.
For us, it isn’t simply a strapline.
It means getting the fundamentals right first. Your bookkeeping needs to be accurate. VAT returns need to be right. Your people need to be paid correctly and on time. Your accounts need to reflect what is actually happening within the business.
But once those foundations are in place, we can do much more with the information.
We can help you understand where you’re making money, where cash is disappearing, what is changing within the business and what might be coming next. We can challenge the numbers, ask questions and help you use the information to make better decisions.
Sometimes that means helping a business grow. Sometimes it means identifying a problem before it becomes a much bigger one. And sometimes it simply means giving a business owner the confidence that everything is under control.
That is what More Than Numbers means to us.
A website built around where CASS is going
One of the things we wanted to achieve with the new website was to bring everything we now do together properly.
You’ll find much more information about our bookkeeping, payroll, VAT, accounts and tax services, alongside our Xero support and implementation services. You can also explore the work we do around business growth, financial insights, cash flow and outsourced finance support.
But we didn't want the website to be entirely about us.
That’s why we’ve also put much more emphasis on useful resources, business tools and real success stories from businesses we’ve worked with.
Our success stories are particularly important to us because they show what good financial support looks like in the real world. Rather than us simply telling you what CASS can do, you can see the problems other businesses faced, what we did to help and, most importantly, what changed as a result.
We’re also developing more interactive tools that allow business owners to look at their own businesses differently, whether that is understanding their financial health, how dependent the business is on its owner or whether they are genuinely ready for growth.
Again, it comes back to the same principle: the numbers should help you do something.
The website has changed. Our approach hasn’t.
Despite everything that has changed at CASS over the years, there are some things we have absolutely no intention of changing.
We still believe businesses deserve to be able to speak to real people who understand them.
We still believe accounting information should be understandable rather than unnecessarily complicated.
We still believe technology such as Xero should make running a business easier, not simply give you another piece of software to manage.
And we still believe the best relationships are built when your accountant understands where you want your business to go, rather than only looking at where it has already been.
The new website simply does a much better job of explaining that.
