One of the first questions any business considering a new accountant is likely to have is a pretty obvious one:
How much is it going to cost?
Yet accountancy hasn’t always made that an easy question to answer.
You’ll often see “prices from £X per month”, a choice of standard packages, or no pricing at all until you’ve had a meeting.
At CASS, we’ve decided to do something different.
You can now visit our website, tell us a little about your business, choose the services and support you need and see an indicative price for working with CASS.
And you don’t need to give us your contact details to see it.
Why have we done it?
Because I think accountancy needs to move on.
We’re trying to take accountancy away from hidden pricing, standard packages and once-a-year compliance, and towards something more transparent, joined-up and genuinely useful to the businesses we work with.
Putting our pricing online is another step in that direction.
I don’t think someone should have to book a meeting simply to get an idea of what working with CASS is likely to cost.
But equally, I don’t think the answer is putting every business into Bronze, Silver or Gold packages.
Your business isn't a package
Two businesses with exactly the same turnover can require completely different levels of work and support.
One might have relatively few transactions and a couple of employees. Another could have hundreds of transactions, several payment methods, a larger payroll and much more complicated bookkeeping.
It doesn’t make sense to price them in the same way simply because they appear to be similar-sized businesses.
So our website asks you some questions about how your business actually works. Your answers are then used to build pricing around the services you need and the work involved.
More importantly, it uses the same pricing method #teamCASS uses when we prepare a proposal.
There isn’t a cheap website price designed to get you through the door followed by a completely different figure when we speak.
We’re not just here for year end
There’s another important part of how CASS works that the new pricing journey reflects.
We’re not looking to simply step in once a year to prepare a set of Limited Company Accounts or complete a Self Assessment Tax Return and then disappear again until the following year.
CASS is built around providing end-to-end finance support.
That starts with having accurate, up-to-date financial information and can include bookkeeping, payroll and VAT, through to year-end compliance, financial reporting, strategic insight and helping you understand what the numbers mean for your business.
We believe that’s where we can add much more value.
If we’re involved throughout the financial journey, we can do more than tell you what happened last year. We can help you understand what’s happening now and use that information to make better decisions about what comes next.
That’s why we don’t generally take on Limited Company Accounts or Self Assessment as standalone services. Compliance is still important, but we want the relationship we have with our clients to offer more than completing a return once a year.
Clear about the additional work too
We’ve also tried to make the pricing transparent when there’s work to do at the beginning.
If your bookkeeping needs bringing up to date, something needs putting right or there’s additional work relating to the part of your financial year that has already passed, we’ll show that separately as a one-off or Catch-Up Fee.
We don’t want that work disappearing into an inflated ongoing monthly fee.
You can see what relates to getting everything in order and what your regular monthly investment with CASS will be.
Is the price confirmed?
The price you see is based on the information you’ve given us and the services you’ve selected.
Before anything is agreed, we’ll go through it with you on a Discovery Call to make sure we’ve understood your business correctly and that the information used to calculate your price is accurate.
Once we’ve verified everything, we’ll confirm the services, support and pricing with you.
If what you’ve told us accurately reflects your business, we wouldn’t expect the price to change.
That distinction is important.
The Discovery Call isn’t where we reveal a different “real” price. It’s where we make sure the information behind the price is right, that we’ve understood what you need and that CASS is the right fit for your business.
There’s no obligation to proceed.
Have a go
There’s been quite a bit of work behind the scenes to make this happen because we didn’t want to put a basic calculator on the website just so we could say we publish our prices.
We wanted it to reflect how we actually price and how we actually work with our clients.
So whether you’re actively considering changing accountants or you’re simply curious about what end-to-end finance support from CASS might look like for your business, you can now find out for yourself.
No standard packages. No hidden headline pricing. No obligation.
Just pricing built around your business.
