Year-End Accounts in Cannock
4.7/5· 47 Google reviewsYear-end for a Cannock construction or haulage company is not the same exercise as year-end for a shop or an office-based business. The assets are heavier, the contracts run across the year end, and the tax reliefs available are considerably more valuable if somebody actually claims them.
We prepare accurate statutory accounts and your corporation tax return, file everything with Companies House and HMRC on time, and then sit down and explain what the figures are telling you.
Capital allowances are where most of the money is. Plant, machinery, commercial vehicles and equipment can attract the Annual Investment Allowance or full expensing, but the treatment depends on what the asset is, how it was financed and whether it's a genuine commercial vehicle or a car in disguise. Hire purchase, contract hire and leasing are all treated differently too — and we regularly find assets sitting in the wrong place on a balance sheet we've inherited.
Then there's work in progress. If you're a contractor with jobs running across the year end, how you value uninvoiced work changes both your reported profit and your tax bill. Done badly it either flatters a bad year or creates a tax charge on profit you haven't yet been paid for. We'll get it valued consistently and explain the effect before anything is filed.
The last one is the director's loan account, and it's the most common unpleasant surprise. Where a Cannock owner-managed company has been taking drawings through the year without declaring dividends properly, an overdrawn loan account can trigger a section 455 charge and a benefit-in-kind. We'd far rather flag that in month nine than in the meeting where we hand you the accounts.

What our clients say on Google
Absolutely fantastic service from the team at CASS, (especially Paul). Not only did they support us with our book-keeping/accounting and EPOS system, but they genuinely went above and beyond — even helping us out of hours and on a Sunday to get everything set up properly. Nothing was too much trouble, and their support has been a massive part of getting our pet shop up and running smoothly from day one. We couldn’t be happier with the service we’ve received and honestly couldn’t have done it without them. Thanks again Paul and the team at CASS — truly appreciated! X

Paul, Ali and the team are simply amazing. Every time I ask for help, someone comes back to me straight away, and I always feel supported. They take the stress out of accounts, explain things in a way I understand, and genuinely care about helping me get it right. Having an accountant like Paul gives me complete peace of mind, and that’s priceless when you’re running a business and wearing lots of hats.
